Another award-winning product! Our car seat Charlie (i-size booster seat) has won the prestigious Red Dot Design Award for its easy-to-use & intuitive design! Charlie has joined the design award-winning streak of Albert, Marie, Marie 3, and Curie.
Did you know? Up to 60% of child restraint systems on the streets are being misused. Yes, you read that right, 60%. Is this a user problem? We think not… mostly.
Any parent should be able to easily understand how to operate a safety product without an expert, and be able to teach their kids about it. Charlie hides the complexity under the skin, eliminating any chance of misuse with an elegant design that looks at home inside any modern car.
One made with love… for parents, by parents. At Swandoo, we combine what we know best from parenting ourselves, the love we have for our family, but also our passion for Good Design. Given our hectic lives, particularly since becoming parents, what is crucial to us is finding ways to make car seat installation and use simple and easy. Our own experiences inspired us to create products that we wished we had for our own children. In our design, everything flows… just like in life!
Good Design is:
Who is behind the winning design?
Kudos to our incredible design and engineering team (from left: Flo, Nico, Alex) for creating a product as innovative and stylish as Charlie!
Charlie is so easy that even a child can use it! Designed to prevent misrouting of the vehicle seat belt, any kid can easily and safely secure themselves every time. One of the biggest dangers of car seats in the market is the potential of misrouting the seatbelt through the gaps between the different parts of the seat. Charlie’s design hides all the gaps under the fabric cover, making it impossible to misroute the seatbelt.
Regulating your child’s body temperature is crucial, as overheating can lead to dehydration or fatigue. By allowing air to circulate around their body through numerous ventilation holes and special foams, long sweaty rides are a thing of the past!
Charlie’s side wings are always ready to adapt and expand to keep up with your growing kiddo. And let’s face it, as they enter their teenage years, we all start to feel a little bit of fear creeping in! But with Charlie by your side (or rather, your child’s side), you can rest assured that they’ll always have a great ride. When moving the headrest upwards, the wings will expand 40 mm in each direction, for an additional 80mm of internal space, improving the comfort and safety performance of the seat.
Trust us, your children will never want to sit on anything else once they have tried our premium seat padding. The use of a printed silicone pattern on the cover of the sitting surface helps to avoid submarining in case of a frontal impact.
No more struggling to keep your kid’s head upright, or worrying about the safety and comfort of their neck.
While it’s natural to be drawn toward products that look good, design is far more than just aesthetics. Design is problem-solving and creating great user experiences. Design is an integral part of how any product operates, even to the smallest details. So, before you make your next purchase, consider how good design can benefit you beyond its looks. Remember, design is how things work, not just how they look – and having the right design can truly make all the difference.
Our recent testers campaign had us on the edge of our seats (pun intended!) as real families put our Charlie booster seats to the test! The result? See for yourself.
What is the Red Dot Design Award?
“In search of good design” – the Red Dot Design Award is one of the world’s largest design competitions. Every year, the Red Dot Award: Product Design sets out to find the year’s best products, which may be aesthetically appealing, functional, smart or innovative, but what they all have in common is their outstanding design.
